For Patients
The Endocrine Activity Index is a test for HR+ HER- Stage II-III breast cancer patients. EAI is a gene expression profile test that measures endocrine activity in a tumor.
What information will my test results provide?
With the results from EAI Recurrence Risk, you and your doctor can further understand your risk of breast cancer recurrence.
If your doctor is considering chemotherapy, the results from EAI can help determine if you may benefit from a dose-intense treatment regimen.

When your Doctor orders An EAI Test
EAI is typically ordered by breast surgeons or oncologists and must be performed on tumor tissue. No additional procedure is needed; the tumor tissue is from a surgery or biopsy of your breast that has already been performed. The process typically takes no more than 14 days from when the sample is received in our laboratory.
Step One
A sample of your tumor tissue is sent to the laboratory for processing.
Step Two
When the tissue is received, testing is performed.
Step Three
Your results are reviewed and a final report is created and then released.
Step Four
Your doctor will discuss the next steps in your care informed by the EAI results.
Frequently asked questions
What Does Recurrence Risk Mean?
Recurrence risk, sometimes called “prognosis” is the likelihood of your tumor returning. Knowing this information may help your doctor determine next steps for your treatment.
Will I Need Chemotherapy?
If your doctor is already considering chemotherapy, the information from EAI can help determine if you may benefit from a dose-intense treatment regimen vs. a standard treatment regimen.
What Research is Behind EAI?
EAI is a new tool for healthcare providers that has been evaluated in multiple clinical studies, which evaluated the test in samples from over 4,600 patients. EAI was developed over 15 years ago and has over 10 peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading oncology journals and presented at major scientific meetings.
